Football Career

Started playing football at the age of four in Huntington Beach, California. In High School, played for Mater Dei High as well as the USPDL. In 2005, he played one year for the University of Maryland. He also regularly played for the US U18 squad and later the U20 squad from 2004 to 2007. In 2006, joined Dutch Club Heerenveen and then The Columbus Crew of the MLS in 2007. Played in the 2007 FIFA U20 World Cup with the United States. In 2007, he was also called up to the U23 team for a friendly against China which led to his appearance representing the United States at the 2008 Olympics Games in Beijing. 

In 2008 he joined the US Senior National Team. He started his first International Game in 2009 during a friendly against Sweden. Selected in 2010 to the 30-man preliminary squad for the World Cup. Member of the 2009 & 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup Teams. 

Signed with English Championship Leeds United the end of 2011. Loaned to League One Stevenage in 2012. Announced Retirement in early 2013. 

Came out of retirement and signed with the LA Galaxy in May 2013.  

In December 2014 won an MLS Cup Championship with the LA Galaxy at the StubHub Center in Carson, CA.
